India vs Bangladesh live

One yorker on Tuesday night could have won a close game for India but none came. There were attempted yorkers that ended up as full tosses and the dew certainly didn't help but there weren't any potent slower deliveries. It's an old weakness, as MS Dhoni acknowledged after the game, one that has periodically hurt India.

"Good yorkers and slower ones are always going to help you win the games but I am not too disappointed as it was tough to bowl yorkers here with the dew," Dhoni said. "But yes, we don't bowl too many yorkers even otherwise. It can't happen overnight. We have bowled yorkers well in patches and I would like to think we are improving but we have to keep practising. On wickets like these, and with all the dew, we have to rely a lot on variation of pace rather than line and length. Hopefully, the bowlers will get it right in the next games

As soon as the match was held up due to "unfit playing conditions", former Sri Lankan captain Atapattu thought the match should have been called off even earlier after seeing the nature of the pitch from the first few overs which former India pacer Srinath disagreed.

Though Srinath conceded that the wicket was of poor quality for an ODI match he objected to Atapattu's remark that Sri Lankan batsmen were hit.

"Knowing that it was a fresh wicket and after seeing how the pitch behaved after the first few overs the match should have been called off earlier," Atapattu said at a TV studio.

"The safety of the (Sri Lankan) players were off paramount importance. You see they were hit in the first few overs itself," he added.

Srinath said a decision to call off the match could not have been taken in haste.

"Players got hit even on good pitches. Only one player has been hit. When you go out to play and found the pitch not in the best of conditions but you expect it to be better as the game progresses. So it could not have been called off so soon," said Srinath, now ICC match referee.
